Re: Your favorite vintage non-palmtop computer?

Well to me the biggest advantage is that you can use literally ANY IDE drive. And no more puzzling with the few obscure types or variables that are normally "supported" on older machines. Also makes it easy to prepare an HDD with an operating system from another computer. In the long run -...

Re: Your favorite vintage non-palmtop computer?

Well the worst part of using an ISA slot is that you have one slot less for other options. Especially if the machine only has like one slot that can make it a tough decision, somewhere between "Hmmm, sound card or harddisc?" Then there are other useful cards like network cards, SCSI contro...

Re: Your favorite vintage non-palmtop computer?

Wow, that Tandy 1400 is really cool. Totally love the screen of it (I love monochrome screens anyways). XTIDE Is actually more like a BIOS supplement. Re: Your favorite vintage non-palmtop computer?

That's a wonderful machine. So you managed to get a CF card working in it? May I ask how you formatted/partitioned it to work in this machine? I got some XTIDE cards to use IDE disks in such old machines where the BIOS just won't accept a casual IDE disk, but yeah it sucks to waste an ISA slot for t...

Re: Hello?

If you look at the completed listings in ebay for atari portfolio then you can see they usually went for something like 30-50 USD. Pretty much same goes for the 95LX - you definitely missed loads of "Buy it now" offers that were somewhere around 35 USD. For the 100LX the cheapest ones went...

I've sold a "near mint" PC-110 last year for 1200 Dollars, so don't expect to get this cheap.

Re: Hello?

Personally I don't like the 95LX because of the lack of CGA, so no games at all and even most appz refuse to work with it. And like the other HP models they suffer from the chiclet keyboard which imho is one of the worst for typing. So for very short notes like a few words they are okay, but don't e...
