Re: Sharp PC-3000

Hmmm, yeah the CF compatibility problem is indeed annoying. I will try to get more CF cards and see which ones work, so we can collect a list of working cards. Totally without CF or SRAM the storage is a bit limited on the 3000. You can compress most exe files with tools like upx, but still you will...

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

Yeah the OB800CT is definitely a good MS-DOS machine. The battery indicator might sometimes go nuts. "usually" it helps to hold "F4" while turning it on which would reset the battery indicator. But yeah with a rebuilt pack it would be best to fully charge it over night (Until the...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

So sorry about all the problems getting CF to work. Wish i could do more about it, but i think the sundisk driver is very limited and most CF cards have a controller that simply isn't compatible with it. About games - only CGA games work. My favorites are old adventure games from Sierra and Lucasfil...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

OK my abilities cracking old DOS appz are not that great - however as i see it the SDISK tool simply throws away all partitions and makes one with all space available and the SFORMAT tool simply gives it a FAT16 format with 4K blocks. So if the 32MB winimage file doesn't work then these 2 tools also...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Hitachi... Hmmm how weird. You'd think that a company like Canon would pick one supplier - at least for the same card with the same label. Unfortunately i also didn't have any luck with the Hitachi cards. If i have some time i will try to "crack" the sdisk and sformat tools so they would n...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

You also have the 32MB "MH" card? Mine showed as "SanDisk SDCFB-32" in windows - Sandisk cards can be used by the sformat and sdisk tools. What does yours look like in windows when you check the "hardware" tab of the drive properties? I suspect theres not a sandisk card...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Yeah a minimalistic nullmodem cable (In German we say "3 line cable") would only need receive, Transmit and ground. No handshake with that one though. Actually the Tidalwave port replicator also fits - the lines are messed up, so you would need to either rewire the lines (and solder the un...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

OK, just let me know if you still have problems. Mine didn't work "out of the box" but after SFORMAT it worked fine.

Re: Sharp PC-3000

OK, i had the glorious idea to make an image with winimage of the working Canon card and write it to the non-working one and it didn't work. I still upload the image here because i think your card is technically pretty much identical to the Canon one (SanDisk SDCFB-32), so maybe it works? http://www...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

On a side-note - did you try a "format" (Not to be confused with "sformat") in the Sharp?
