Re: Sharp PC-3000

If bootstrapping is your only issue and you already have the cables you are miles ahead of most other people... :) I had most luck with laplink 3 - most important part: Ignore the software on the PC3k and just upload the matching laplink client from your workstation (Or in my case: Old Toshiba P75 L...

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

Wow, I am curious how the total run time is now. Maybe it could even reach like 5 hours or so. That makes it a total killer DOS gaming laptop. :3

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

Finally 100%. Well now that sounds like a battery one can use... So did the battery indicator precision improve now? If the displayed charge is still totally off then maybe the indicator can't cope with the new cells. But i think most omnibook were able to "learn" the new capacity with the...

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

Yeah 3.5 hours already sounds pretty good. If you give it a full charge then maybe it will be even more. The original HDD for sure drew much more current - your SSD should help to save much power. :)

Re: Your favorite vintage non-palmtop computer?

Ahh an Amiga 600... I always wanted to have one when i was a youngster (But got a 486 instead which was not really a bad trade-off). So now your Sharp PC-3000 and the Amiga 600 have a fight about who can use the PCMCIA SRAM card, eh? More FastRAM for the Amiga or more DOS games for the PC-3000...

Solar powered laptops

This is such an overlooked topic, so i wanna write a new blog post about it when i got some time. I must admit I don't like the WEWI SOL so much... http://www.tankraider.com/userup/1480510739.jpg Generally the design is not bad but some points i really dislike about it: - The solar panels are "...

Your favorite vintage non-palmtop computer?

Mine is actually the "PC III VGA Plus" - on first sight a pretty shameless Compaq Portable III clone. Yeah even the name seems to be a clone... XD But inside it's actually much of an improvement compared to the original Portable III. Unlike the Portable III it uses standard hardware (Minus...
